Position Description
TheChief of Staffto the Executive Director supports the executive day-to-day and strategic operations of the District. The candidate will be responsible for leading cross-functional strategic initiatives, facilitating special projects, and supporting collaboration across the organization in support of the District’s mission.
Essential Functions And Duties
Drives preparation for and follow-ups from key leadership meetings that comprise the District’s operational cadence
Coordinates to ensure that preparatory material comes together in a timely manner with an exceedingly high level of quality and accuracy
Continually works to review processes, identifying and implementing improvements for maximum effectiveness
Tracks high-priority initiatives for the Executive Director and identifies any potential obstacles
Assists with tracking of Department metrics and goals, proactively follows up and provides actionable recommendations for improvement if metrics/goals are not being achieved
Manages key relationships and builds a process to track and nurture key stakeholders
Develops and prepares memos, briefing documents, presentation materials, reports, and other documents that distill complex issues and effectively describe research findings and policy initiatives to diverse audiences
Directly manages assigned team members, including training, directing work, and providing performance feedback
Maintains the highest standards of ethical behavior, exercising honesty and integrity, respect, and fairness in the execution of their responsibilities
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Performs other duties that may be added or changed as the course and scope of the job directs
SUPERVISON EXERCISED:
Oversee a team of professional, technical, field, and administrative personnel including hiring, training, directing, motivating, coaching, disciplining, measuring performance, and terminating
INTERNAL CONTACTS:
Reports to the Executive Director
Primarily with division directors and department managers as well as the Executive Director, and departmental office staff
EXTERNAL CONTACTS:
Primarily with County officials; also with citizens, visitors, and mid-level representatives and professionals of other government agencies, vendors, and organizations
Frequently attends public meetings and occasionally gives presentations upon request on behalf of the District

Requirements
EDUCATION:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Government, Political Science, Public Administration or Policy, Planning, Engineering, Economics, or a related field of study
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a strategy, program management, or operations role with proven abilities in leading multi-disciplinary or cross-functional senior leadership teams
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Management and leadership experience operating within a complex, diverse environment
Ability to think strategically, critically, and creatively
Expertise in building consensus, analyzing policies, and effective decision-making
