About the Position:
The new Morris McBride Elementary School was opened in July 2016. This facility is a state-of-the-art, 21st century facility holding over 600 students and about 70 staff members. McBride ES is located at Fort Benning, Georgia.

Responsibilities

Disinfects restrooms to include urinals, toilet bowls, and sinks.

Cleans and maintains walls, carpets and ceiling surfaces. Removes stains from a variety of surfaces.

Dusts, waxes and polishes office furniture, table tops, desks, chairs, lighting fixtures, windows, window ledges and woodwork.

Sweeps, mops, strips, scrubs, waxes and/or polishes floors using brooms, mops, industrial-type floor scrubbers and other heavy powered cleaning equipment.

Opens and closes schools.

Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Requirement.

Proof of U.S. Citizenship required.

This position requires a Tier 1 (T1) investigation with Childcare Checks since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Custodial Worker without more than normal supervision. To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following: performing cleaning duties to include mopping, dusting, and disinfecting lavatories and performing general grounds keeping maintenance to include landscaping and snow removal. – Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean and in order)

Physical Effort: Occasionally uses heavy powered cleaning equipment (e.g., industrial type buffers). Occasionally exerts moderately heavy physical effort such as that required in lifting and moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds, requiring continuous standing, bending, stooping and reaching. Requires working on ladders/scaffold in the performance of some duties.

Working Conditions: Usually works indoors in areas which are adequately heated, lighted, and ventilated. Exposed to vibration from heavy equipment and to skin irritation from strong cleaning solutions. Care must be taken to avoid serious injury when working on ladders and scaffolds or when using heavy powered equipment.
