Why does the job exist?

Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of closing date. Position will assist with maintaining, reviewing and completing reconciliation of inmate financial records to ensure compliance with accepted principles and standards regarding inmate financial accounts. Position will assist in processing inmate deposits, payments and reimbursements and serve as aide to Senior Inmate Accounts as needed.

How does it get done?

Assist with ensuring required documentation is received and verified before processing inmate financial transactions
Copy and prepare documents for archiving purposes
Review transactions for documentation of obligation, payment authorization, timely payment and accurate recording
Assist with ensuring inmate information is current, accurate and is reflected in the Criminal Management Information System (CMIS)

Minimum Qualification

High School diploma or Equivalency and six (6) months experience in bookkeeping, accounting and/or finance. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver’s License. Employment is subject to a pre-employment background investigation and is conditional pending results.

Working Conditions

Executive Order 2021-066 requires all employees with the State of New Mexico to provide either proof of COVID-19 vaccination (including proof of a booster dose of vaccine by January 17, 2022, or within four weeks of becoming eligible for a booster dose) or proof of a COVID-19 viral test every week. The Public Health Order (on Vaccination) dated December 2, 2021, requires Congregate Care Facility Workers and Hospital Workers to have received a primary series of vaccination by October 6, 2021, and a booster dose of vaccine by January 17, 2022, or within four weeks of becoming eligible for a booster. Willingness to work in a correctional facility, may be required to work odd hours, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
