Summary

This position is a Coin Manufacturer located in the Office of Production, Production Branch, Coining and Numismatics Divisions of the Denver Mint.

The following are the duties of this position at the WG-6. If you are selected, you will receive training and have the opportunity to promote to the full WG-10 potential.

As a Production Machinery Mechanic, you will:
Move items safely through production, vaults, and storage areas to prevent damage, loss, or injury to others.

Inspect, operate, and monitor production equipment to ensure machines are operational and do not overheat or jam production lines.

Perform equipment maintenance such as cleanup, greasing, and oiling.

Operate and monitor state of the art Upset Mill equipment, count and bag machines, electronic controllers, and blanking presses.

Operate robotic assembly machines and forklifts to load/off-load precious metals, supplies, and equipment.

Physical Requirements:
Incumbent frequently works with objects weighing up to 60 pounds and on an occasional basis in excess of 100 pounds however, moving equipment will be available. Required to push, pull, reach, walk, stoop, stand, kneel, bend, carrying of parts, supplies, coins, blanks, trays, packages, tools, etc. Work requires dexterity, mental alertness, agility, and coordination of movement in order to operate the equipment properly and to prevent errors. Must be able to work in cramped quarters/positions for sustained periods of time and must have sufficient eyesight to do close work and endurance, hand/eye coordination is required to keep pace with the operation of machines and controls. Operates a forklift. Work requires sitting and/or standing for prolonged periods of time.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Shift Work: This facility operates on a 24 hour per day, three-shift basis, 5 days a week. Work schedules may vary and assignment to a specific shift cannot be guaranteed. The successful applicant must be available to work on all three shifts on a rotational basis.
  • May be required to wear safety clothing and/or equipment required by the position. This may include safety shoes, hard hats, hearing protection, gloves, masks, etc.
  • Pass a pre-employment physical examination.
