Network Engineer I Job at Louisville Metro Government – 3.7 Louisville, KY

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Supports configuration, installation, maintenance, support and troubleshooting of enterprise routed and switched data and voice networking

Supports both wireless and wired network for all metro locations

Provides support of network collaboration tools

Examples of Duties

UNDER ADMINISTRATIVE SUPERVISION

Provides operational support for: network management, monitoring, problem mitigation, break-fix, maintenance, and network troubleshooting

Installs and configures network devices

Plans, documents, and completes network changes, maintenance, and upgrades for network devices

Completes support tickets and services requests according to standards and service level targets

Assists with support escalation for technology teams

Supports and maintains infrastructure, cabling and rack wiring configuration, and monitors network environment and quality of service

Researches current technical trends and emerging technology, and keeps up to date technically by applying new knowledge to job functions

Solves problems, analyzes information, and evaluates results to choose the best methods to solve network problems

Performs configuration management and records management of network devices in the configuration management database

Performs related work

Minimum Requirements

Associate’s degree

Business Administration

Computer Science

Engineering Technology

Related field

WORK EXPERIENCE

One year of experience in a Network Engineer role or comparable technical job function

EQUIVALENCY

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted

OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Must submit to fingerprinting for criminal history check

Must be on 24 hour call

Must hold a valid driver?s license with no restrictions and possess reliable transportation

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Meets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related work

Lifts and carries items weighing up to 20 pounds

Must be able to work on-site or remote and adhere to policy and procedure
