Bridge Division Announcement – Oklahoma County

Has management and oversight of the BrM Bridge Inspection database, ensuring the bridge data is complete and accurate. BrM is used to collect digital bridge inspection data for over 23,000 state, county, city, turnpike and railroad bridges. Reviews and approves submitted routine, fracture critical, and other special and underwater bridge inspections. Updates approved inspections from the working to the master database. Maintains multiple copies of the bridge database, including working, master and annual archival databases. Creates new reports and layouts for the database as required.

In addition to oversight and management of the BrM Bridge Inspection database, this position also ensures FHWA annual bridge data reporting requirements are met, responds to on-demand requests for bridge data, develops and maintains revisions to the BrM Bridge Inspection Field, Office and User manuals, assists in preparing for the annual Quality Control workshops for approximately 150 contracted and state employee bridge inspectors, creates PowerPoint and other presentations as required, and provides assistance to bridge inspectors throughout the state regarding policies, invoicing requirements, and correct data entry procedures, and supervises Transportation Specialists assigned to assist with these duties.

This position must have a working knowledge of the software used in the performance of these duties, including BrM, Crystal Reports, Info-Maker, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and the SQL programming language.

Positions in this job family are responsible for performing various levels of transportation management duties. This may include supervision of a staff of professional, technical and support personnel involved in planning, construction, design, right-of-way or aerial survey activities, or maintenance of various types of transportation systems.


The Transportation Manager job family has five levels which are distinguished based on the level of supervisory/management responsibility, scope of responsibility, complexity and breadth of function, and degree of autonomy with which the position is permitted to function.

Level I:
At this level incumbents are responsible for performing supervisory or advanced transportation management work. Incumbents may serve as an assistant to the construction resident engineering manager or transportation manager. Within the Department of Transportation or Oklahoma Transportation Authority incumbents may direct or administer a highly technical transportation related program or project establishing policies and/or guidelines.


Level I:
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of a bachelor’s degree and three years of experience in transportation related work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of qualifying experience for each year of the required education.
